  5. **  Using uaescsi.device to use IDE/SCSI Hardware for CD Support like real AMiga

  8. Enable in WinuaeTAB MIsc->Createlog so you see what amiga UNIT Numbers
  9. your IDE/SCSI Hardware have  
  10.  
  11. For cd support install for ex. amicdfs select as device uaescsi.device
  12. and insert as UNIT Num the num you see in the log file
  13. Example: If you have only a IDE Controller
  14.   0=Primary Master 
  15.   1=Secondary Master 
  16.  
  17.   Diskchange work correct so uaediskchange is not need anymore

  19. Limits: On win98-ME (with adaptec aspi which install many PC-Burn
  20.    Software)you can not read digital audiodata(optycdplayer sampler)
  21.    This only work in win2k.Playing audio cd s with analog out work on both
  22.     
  23. 1. Use hardfiles as your main drive to avoid trouble
  24.  
  25.    The filesystem does not support notify(diropus does not update lister 
  26.    automatic,Storm C is report that it compile all files instead 
  27.    compiling changed files.So you see filesystem is not 100% compatible

  29.    Also typical Amigadrives have many files my 270MB used HD space
  30.    has 17000 files.This is too much for WIndows because windows need 
  31.    to cache the dirs because FAT32 is slow.(Everyone who want delete the Windows from dos
  32.    dir without smartdrive see that this take severel Hours)
  33.    ALso the max of files is limitet on FAT32
  34.    So i use a main 270MB Hardfile and store pictures not important 
  35.    programs usw. in filedisks so that not many files/dir exists
  36.    A good choose is make every Hardfile not larger than 500 MB
  37.    because booting on a 1GB Hardfile take longer
  38.    
  39.    Also a backup with hardfile is fast 270MB take 1 min with 1 Drive
  40.    0.5 Min with two drives.
  41.    SO when trying a new prog you can easy make a backup of all
  42.    Of course transfering from / to hardfile can done by copying it
  43.    easy you not need install all Amiga stuff again

  45. 2. Get UAE working in every dir/drive without changing configs
  46.  
  47.    For example uae is in c:\amiga the uae prog is in c:\amiga\winuae
  48.    and harfile is and dirs are in c:\amiga
  49.    Insert in kickstart path ..\kickstart 
  50.    ..\hardfile1.hdf
  51.    You see no c:\amiga exists in the name and it work correct
  52.    So you can easy copy UAE to every drive CD work also you want
  53.    and use it

  55. 3. UAE boot not because of picasso96 failure (picasso96 work extreme slow)

  57.    StartUAE and press both Mousebuttons when the mainwin is show 
  58.    immideatly.In The early startup select boot without startupsequence
  59.    Now remove or move in devs:monitors the uaegfx file
  60.    Start UAE now the workbench comes.
  61.    Just select a AmigaMode Save and copy uaegfx to devs/monitors again
  62.    If this fail install picasso96 again
  63.    Dont forget then to copy in Winuaedir Amigaprograms the rtg.library
  64.    to libs:picasso96 if you reinstall picasso96 to remove the mousetrails

  66. 4. A chipset Mode that UAE not display fail UAE
  67.    OS 3.1: Boot without startupsequence (from earstartupmenu) 
  68.    Type Loadwb press cancel on the env warnings
  69.    start screenmodeselector and select standard pal Mode save It
  70.    Boot and then select your needed Mode    
  71.    OS 3.5/3.9: copy a old screenmodeprefs Program from 3.1 to your HD
  72.    because the new work not this way

  75. 7. UAE large Boottime (memusage)

  77.    WINUAE need 60MB+z3+chip+fast+picasso96 Mem
  78.    The 0.8.17r1 use memory dynamic this mean you can select
  79.    512MB Z3 Mem and see no diffrent in Boot Time
  80.    But if you work longer on UAE it may get very slow
  81.    So its better that you calculate with the above formel
  82.    your ram need and make sure that it is under the pysical Limit
  83.    Windows make many trouble if it get out of ram

  85.    ALso try activate suspend to disk Mode UAE and 
  86.    Windows is then in 30sec ready to use

  88. 8. UAE show green Screen on Boot

  90.    Go to CPU Page and select JIT forcesettings and indirekt Mode
  91.    or disable it complete

  103.   This are the picasso96 uae drivers.Simple ignore the drawer
  104.   The newest picasso96 Installer have included the displaydrivers

  108. Tips for stable PC:

  110. 1. If you have a old HD (500MB) install A naked Win for testing use
  111.    Does the program work ?
  112.   
  113. 2. (More)Overclock your PC by 10%. with the bus clock.If it work correct
  114.    your PC seem stable.If it work for 4 Min it seem stable too
  115.    If it work not try downclock it.Less crashes ?

  118. A problem on non UDMA HD is that PIO4 or SCSI have no
  119. transfer error detection.So try to let your PC run on PIO3(DMA still work)
  120. a month or so.The speed loss is not measurable in praxis
  121. because windows normally transfer small blocks.Less crashes ?

  125. 3. You can install from the windowsinstaller sysmon.
  126.    With this you can see how many kb are transfer/sec 
  127.    and how many mem a program use.So you see if the slowness
  128.    of the program is memory dependent.

  130.    your pysical Mem.If so more mem increase Speed

  134.    A 9 GB 10000 Scsi Drive is slower  
  135.    than a 40GB 7200 IDE drive if you use the same partitionsize
